Dana Larocca is Vice President of Discovery Research at AgeX Therapeutics. Her current research is focused on the development of therapeutic cells and extracellular vesicles (EV) for treating age-related diseases. This research includes the development of induced Tissue Regeneration (iTR) using genetic approaches as well as EV transfer. She has over 20 years of leadership experience in the Biotechnology Industry working in regenerative medicine, gene therapy, and immunotherapy. Previously she served as founder and CEO of Mandala Biosciences, which raised over $3M in SBIR and CIRM grants to develop stem cell targeted nanoparticles. She has held joint positions at Astellas (formerly Advanced Cell Technology) and the Sanford Burnham Medical Research Institute. She has over 45 scientific publications and 28 patents and patent applications. Dr. Larocca holds a Ph.D. in Molecular and Cellular Biology from the University of Southern California and a B.S. in Biology from Ithaca College. She did her post-doctoral training at Harvard University.
